Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Located in Arlington Center, MA, this three to six month early recovery program provides all the clinical services and structure for your life, five days a week. Individuals are evaluated by our staff psychiatrist, attend groups, receive any necessary individual psychotherapy and/or family counseling, all complemented by addiction education, relapse prevention, anger management, wellness, yoga, nutrition, and daily creativity workshops unique to our program. Our specialized treatment approach uses music, the arts, creative writing, and expression to access the creative person via expressive therapy as a language of covert feelings and exploring creativity in recovery. We are skilled in treating a wide range of addictions, chemical use or other addictions, along with mental health issues of trauma, depression, anxiety, and other disorders.
While Right Turn encourages exercise, meditation and other techniques, we also utilize medications as part of early recovery treatment and other disorders.
Right Turn uses Vivitrol, Naltrexone, Suboxone, and other medications in the treatment of addictions and mental health. Right Turn physicians can provide supervised induction stabilization, maintenance and taper, if desired or indicated. Research supports better outcomes when medication-assisted treatment is offered within a highly structured outpatient program that includes family therapy. As part of our Intensive Outpatient Program, Vivitrol, Suboxone, or medication assisted treatment candidates are provided with weekly individual therapy, group therapy specific to medications, urine drug screens, routine meetings with the treating physician, case management, and adherence monitoring. Our office-based opiate treatment model – also known as Buprenorphine Treatment or Suboxone Treatment – is available through our Intensive Outpatient Program. Urine screening is conducted by both a Right Turn physician and/or Precision Testing Labs at our Arlington Clinic to ensure a secure “chain of custody”.
Whether an individual is dealing with an opiate addiction or another chemical dependence, the emphasis is on learning to cope with cravings and urges, understanding a clean and sober lifestyle, managing symptoms of early recovery, and building a supportive network in sobriety. It is common for people in early recovery from substance use disorder to experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, ADD ADHD, and trauma. This makes comprehensive assessment and on-going evaluation by our trained addiction and mental health specialists very important at all stages in the recovery process. Helping the individual and family members identify early signs of withdrawal, build coping skills, and develop recovery strategies are key parts of the program.
At Right Turn, our approach incorporates family coping skills and strategies with the family to ensure a better outcome. We understand that substance use and other disorders also cause stress, confusion, and anxiety for family members. To address these issues, Right Turn’s family specialist offers an array of services designed to educate family members about addiction and mental health.
Creativity and Expressive Therapies
Untreated addictions and mental health deprive a person of their true sense of self and self-worth. Individuals lose a perception of themselves as fathers, sons, daughters, sisters, or friends. Under the guidance of a licensed expressive therapist, we use the arts, expressive therapies, and talk therapies to assist people in finding a voice in recovery. At Right Turn, rediscovering those lost parts of one’s self is crucial to recovery. And finding one’s own creative voice can support this personal journey. Whether through introspective journaling, art, music or drum circles, Right Turn offers a variety of expressive therapies in all of our programs. The importance we place on personal expression is one of the distinguishing features of our program that separates us from other alcohol addiction treatment centers or drug addiction rehab centers. Our emphasis on using the creative process to support recovery is unique and innovative, and has proven to be highly effective.
